The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Dr. Basem Abdul Zaman, discussed Monday with the Basra Provincial Council the mechanism of dealing with job seekers to ensure the implementation of promises regarding their employment, with the possibility of covering the province (the emergency project to support stability and steadfastness in the liberated areas) Exceptional mode.

During his meeting with the President and members of the Basra Provincial Council, the Minister gave a detailed explanation of the ministry's procedures regarding the inspection campaign for the oil companies in the south, stressing the obligation of these companies to employ 50% of the national workforce at the work sites.

Abdul-Zaman also reviewed the mechanism of coverage of the Social Protection Department and directed the ministry towards expanding this coverage after launching the necessary allocations for this file in the general budget, indicating that the ministry will give Basra province attention to this subject due to its special situation.

He explained that the ministry seeks to activate the pension fund and social security for workers and invest its funds in the implementation of projects to run job seekers in the province and focus on service projects, expressing the readiness of the ministry to provide support for all projects that ensure the employment of job seekers.

For his part, praised the head of the Basra Provincial Council on the efforts of the minister and the ministry to solve the problem of unemployment in the province and its direction towards the sites of oil companies in order to run the national employment of the people of the province, while applying for the activation of granting soft loans to a wider province of Basra.
