The cabinet decided on Sunday to restructure state-owned companies and set up a committee headed by Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi on the issue.
"The committee includes ministers (oil, commerce, electricity, industry and minerals, telecommunications, transport, reconstruction, housing, municipalities, public works, water resources, agriculture)," the Cabinet Secretariat said in a statement. Other ministries not represented. "
"The committee will adopt a comprehensive vision on how to deal with public companies owned by the state and approved by the Council of Ministers' Resolution No. (67) for the year 2015 and the adoption of the Charter of Good Governance for Non-State Owned Corporations in Iraq. Preparing draft resolutions and recommendations and following up on their implementation. "
The statement added that "the decision comes in implementation of the plan of major economic reforms, which include making public companies organizational units operating according to the principles of market economy and turn from losing to profitable units to develop the Iraqi economy and achieve diversification in the composition of GDP as well as eliminate unemployment and create new jobs By following the scientific and global methods. "
