Baghdad:
US Ambassador to Kuwait Lawrence Silverman expressed his country's satisfaction at the Gulf summit on schedule.
"The challenges faced by the GCC countries are many in the region, especially from Iran at this time, so we think we need a strong and unified cooperation council," Silverman told Kuwait's Al-Rai newspaper. "No official date has been set for the summit, Gulf - American so far '.
In response to threats by Iranian President Hassan Rowhani to plunge the region into chaos, terrorism and drugs if the sanctions on his country weaken its ability to meet such challenges, Silverman said: 'Iran must start work and knows what it has to do to stop these threats to Countries of the region, as it is an unstable state and take actions that threaten the stability of the region with them.
"The sanctions are a diplomatic act to make Iran act as a natural state, not to support terrorism," he said, expressing the hope that Iran would change its behavior and actions in the region.
The Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council affirmed its keenness on the strength, cohesion and immunity of the Council, the unity of its ranks and its desire for greater coordination, complementarity and coherence in all fields.
He praised the declaration of the 39th session held in Riyadh under the chairmanship of King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, the declaration of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to establish the Coordinating Council and adopt a joint strategy for the integration of the two countries economically and militarily and militarily 'Determination Strategy' and welcomed it to be the 40th session of the UAE.
The Council reiterated its firm positions on the condemnation of Iran's continued occupation of the three islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa, belonging to the United Arab Emirates.
He reiterated the support of the sovereign right of the UAE over its three islands and considered any decisions, practices or acts carried out by Iran on the islands null and void, calling on Iran to respond to efforts to resolve the issue through negotiations or resort to the International Court of Justice.
The Council stressed the need for Iran to abide by the principles of good neighborliness, respect for the sovereignty of states, non-interference in internal affairs, peaceful settlement of disputes, non-use or threat of force, renunciation of sectarianism and the international community to take more effective and serious steps to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear capabilities. More stringent restrictions on its ballistic missile program in the coming period.
