Iraq begins discussion of draft budget for 2019

The President of the Council of Ministers Haidar Abadi met to discuss the preliminary draft of the draft budget law for the year 2019 in the presence of a number of officials and advanced staff of the Ministry of Finance.
At the beginning of the meeting, he stressed the basic principles that should be paid attention to when preparing the budget items, pointing out the importance of the budget to respond to the approved projects in which decisions were issued in the light of the meetings we had with representatives of the provinces to provide services to citizens and create jobs.
It was also stressed to support investment projects and secure allocations for petrodollar projects and development of the provinces.
During the meeting, the focus was on covering service projects for Basra Governorate in particular.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of reducing the budget deficit and focus on assigning the most needy segments of the Iraqi people.
