The Ministry of Planning announced on Wednesday the decline in the rate of inflation during the month of August by (0.8%) compared to the month of July, "revealing" a slight increase in the annual inflation rate of {0.4%} compared with The month of August of last year 2017 ".

The spokesman for the ministry Abdul-Zahra al-Hindawi said in a statement received by the agency {Euphrates News} a copy of it, "The Central Bureau of Statistics continued inflation indicators throughout the country during the month of August through the survey of prices for goods and services."

"The results of the survey showed that the general index for the month of August 2018 in Iraq was (105.0%) decreased by (0.8%) compared to July 2018," referring to "the reduction of food and non-alcoholic beverages by (0.2%), (1.4%), clothing and footwear (2.0%), housing (0.8%), household equipment and maintenance (1.4%), health and transport (0.2%), %}, Entertainment and culture by {2.7%}, education by {2.4%}, restaurants and hotels by {0.6%} miscellaneous goods and services by {0.7%} ".

Al-Hindawi said that "the inflation index decreased during the month of August by (9.0%) from the previous month, while the inflation index fell by an annual basis of {0.7%} compared to the month of August 2017," stressing that "the annual inflation rate during the month of August 2018 to {0.4 %} Compared with August 2017, when the index reached 104.6%.

"The annual increase is due to the growth of the food and non-alcoholic beverages sector by 1.2%, contributing 70.5% to the annual rate of change. The changes are due to a 14.3% Contributing by (-1.4%) to the annual rate of change ".

"The clothing and footwear division recorded a decline of (0.7%), contributing by (-9.8%) to the annual rate of change due to the decrease in clothing prices by (0.1%) and the shoes group by (3.1%)".

"The Housing Department also recorded a decline of (2.1%) to contribute by (-137.4%) in the annual rate of change due to the drop in rental group prices by (2.6%) and maintenance and housing services by (5.3%). The other decrease of (1.7%) to contribute by (-24.0%) in the annual rate of change because of the fall in prices of furniture and equipment by (3.2%) and the group of household appliances by (0.9%).
