Maliki stresses the need to respect the independence of the Electoral Commission and non-interference in its affairs

The Vice President of the Republic Nuri al-Maliki , on Wednesday, the need to respect the independence of the Electoral Commission and non-interference in its affairs, considering that the continued suspension of the work of the Commission is contrary to the law.
The office of al-Maliki said in a statement received by Alsumaria News a copy of it, "The Vice President of the Republic Nuri al-Maliki received in his office today members of the Council of the Independent High Electoral Commission, and during the meeting discussed the role of the Commission and ways to address the obstacles to its work, especially after the end of the Board of Commissioners Assigned by judges ".
The statement quoted al-Maliki as saying, "the need to respect the independence of the Commission and non-interference in its affairs and adhere to the principle of separation of powers and the work of independent bodies," noting that "the continued suspension of the work of the Commission is contrary to the law and presents the political process to a serious imbalance."
In turn, the Board of Commissioners called for "the continuation of their work and the completion of their tasks in accordance with the approved contexts."
An informed source told Alsumaria News on Tuesday that the suspension of the Board of Commissioners in the Electoral Commission from work continues until the completion of investigations.
