South Korea announced that it has allocated 10 million dollars in humanitarian aid to both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

The announcement was made by the South Korean consul in Arbil Park Yong Kyu during a meeting with the Director-General of the Joint Crisis Coordination Center (HCC) in Ho Chi Minh City, Arbil, according to an official government statement.

The consul said his government has decided to provide 10 million US dollars in humanitarian aid to Iraq and the Kurdistan region through the United Nations humanitarian agencies.

The Korean diplomat said his government has allocated 300,000 dollars to provide medical assistance to the Kurdistan Region.

The medical aid came as health partners closed several health facilities for displaced people and threatened to close all other health services if insufficient funds were available, according to the Joint Crisis Coordination Center in his statement.

The South Korean government has contributed to providing medical assistance to support displaced people and refugees in the Kurdistan region since the outbreak of the humanitarian crisis caused by the emergence of a supporter in Iraq in 2014.

According to the latest statistics from the Joint Crisis Coordination Center, the Kurdistan Region still hosts 1.3 million displaced Iraqis and Syrian refugees despite the announcement of a defeat.
