An Indian delegation is visiting Iraq to resume tea exports

{International: Euphrates News} The Tea Association of India (ITA) announced on Wednesday that it is resuming the export of tea to Iraq after a five-year hiatus.
"The Association is in the process of resuming the export of tea to Iraq after a break of nearly five years," Azzam Menem, chairman of the association, said in a statement. "The Indian Federal Trade Ministry and tea industry officials will visit Iraq later this month for discussions on reopening Tea trading window ".
He added that "his association exported about 50 million kilograms of tea to Iraq in 2013-2014 but stopped in the wake of the escalation of political tensions there," pointing out that "Iraq buys high quality tea in addition to a cheaper variety of South Indian tea."
India's efforts to export tea to Iraq come as Indian product exports to Russia and other European countries fall, as well as a drop in average export prices at last year's levels. Indian tea companies and exporters are planning to resume large-scale exports to Iraq, 2013. Finished
