Saad al-Hadithi, a spokesman for Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi's office, said on Thursday the Iraqi government's stance on the expected US military attack on Syria.

"The Iraqi government sees the importance of finding a peaceful political solution in Syria," al-Hadithi said in a statement to Ashfaq News.

"Iraqi forces will deal with any potential threat and will do what is necessary to prevent the launching of any hostile actions from inside Syria towards Iraq," he said.

Al-Hadithi pointed out that "a presence in the Syrian regions neighboring Iraq is a threat that has been communicated to us by the parties concerned."

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday threatened to launch "smart" missile strikes on Syria following the chemical bombardment of Douma in the eastern Guta.

Britain, France, Germany and a number of countries have voiced their support for the expected US strike amid opposition and anticipation from Russia and Iran.

abadi take our money take our aid help us fix our country but do not use our land to attack our  enemy. what a pos no wonder the country is going no where and after the election it will get worse.
