Companies listed on the frontier market are up 10% this year as investors bet on post-Islamic State economic recovery

2nd April, 2018

Iraq’s stock market, tucked behind blast walls in an upscale part of Baghdad, is defying the violent swings that have struck the global markets this year.

Shares of companies listed on the frontier market are among the world’s top performers in the first quarter as investors bet on the country’s economic recovery following the defeat of Islamic State. The three-year war destroyed parts of the country’s infrastructure, leaving many businesses struggling. LINK

In all honesty it would boggle my mind if this event wasnt used somehow politically to benefit Abadi for the upcoming elections. In the month of April seems like the perfect time to benefit Iraqis with an RI and the rest of the world.

Iraq president finally approves divisive 2018 budget

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraq’s President Fuad Masum ordered on Thursday to officially publish the country’s controversial 2018 budget, ending weeks of political grappling over the document.

A statement by the presidency said Masum ordered the budget for publication at the official gazette. It said, however, that the president would sue some state agencies for issuing directives to publish the budget in violation of his own authorities.

On Wednesday, Masum made a warning to the Justice Ministry after it ordered its departments to publish the budget, saying the ministry’s action was a violation of his powers.

Two weeks ago, Masum has rejected the budget bill, and ordered it back to the parliament, citing several and legal violations in the document.

The Iraqi parliament voted in favor of the USD88 billion draft on March 3rd amid a boycott from Kurdistan Region representatives who objected to reducing the region’s share of allocations from 17% to slightly above 12%.

The Iraqi president was a co-founder of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

Kurdish parliamentarians had been quoted saying they would demand Masum and all other Kurdish members of the Iraqi government bodies to withdraw in protest at the budget.

Relations between Kurdistan and the Iraqi government deteriorated after a referendum Kurdistan held in September, in which a majority voted for secession from Iraq.

Abadi: The sale and purchase of electoral cards a crime up to 15 years

From 2018-04-01 at 19:56 (Baghdad time)

Baghdad - Mawazine News

Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi warned on Sunday that the sale and purchase of election cards is punishable by up to 15 years' imprisonment, while stressing that the government's duty is to ensure the safety of the elections and the requirements for their success.

"We congratulate the Christian brothers in Iraq and the rest of the world on the Easter holiday, and we renew our pride in this authentic component under the unity of our Iraqi people and its religious, national and sectarian diversity," Abadi said at his weekly conference.

"We continue to pursue the military and security efforts, both clearance operations and securing borders or stability within the cities. We have eliminated a military advocate, but he has political and media arms in some institutions," he said.

"The real danger is a dangerous threat in Syria and its elimination in Syria is a lie and it is a real challenge and we must encircle it in the region without exceeding our borders," he said, adding that "security forces are in complete control of the situation."

On the file of services, Abadi continued, "We issued the Diwani order to provide services and national effort to all regions of Baghdad and the provinces, and all efforts will harness this vital subject and meet the basic services and priorities," and "we are aware of the reality of services and problems suffered by citizens during the war against Da'ash , And the efforts will be under the direct supervision of us to prevent corruption. "

Abadi called on citizens to "be patient with the government and cooperate with it", calling on politicians to "not exploit the file of services."

On the reconstruction of Iraq and the investment file, Abadi said, "As part of our efforts to rebuild Iraq and open the doors of investment to international companies, including Japanese companies, this week we will visit Japan and attend a special conference in this regard within the previous invitation addressed to us and we will meet with the Japanese Prime Minister."

On the elections, Abadi pointed out that "the Council of Ministers hosted today the Electoral Commission and Directors General," stressing that "the duty of the government to ensure the safety of elections and the requirements of success."

Abadi called on citizens to "receive voter cards," warning that "selling and buying the electoral card is a crime we are being prosecuted and punishable by 15 prison sentences."
He expressed "regret for the issuance of the House of Representatives amnesty for forgers."

He explained that "the Council of Ministers discussed the five-year development plan and was approved."

Speaking about corruption, Abbadi stressed that "corruption is a serious disease and no less harmful than terrorism," calling for "the removal of this file from the political conflict as well as the security file."

"Najaf airport is a legal dispute between the investor and the province, we put an interim administration until the judicial resolution, and will not allow the breaking of our decisions and we will be held accountable for that."

On the level of Iraq's relations and visits to the neighboring countries and the world, Abadi said, "We do not hide anything in our relations and those who fabricate lies and any visit to be declared," saying that "there is a breach and a third party to create a conflict and we welcome relations, but ask them not to take advantage of the Iraqi arena , And we should not use any country and the conduct is not true. "

As for the presence of foreign forces in Iraq, Abadi said, "In regard to any US flight is not only with Iraqi approval," calling on the media to "verify his information on this subject."
"There is no foreign troops fighting on Iraqi soil," the prime minister said.

The cabinet usually holds a regular session on Tuesday, chaired by its chairman, Haider al-Abadi, to discuss and vote on a number of laws on its agenda.

Abadi will hold a press conference to discuss the latest political, security, social and economic developments. link

it is a perfect time for nothing but lies. the budget is not in the gazette they are not out of chapter8 and the gcr/rv is a crock of bs . its time to start to tell the truth to the sheep who  keep hanging on to false hopes everyday.THERE IS NO RV COMMING look at the real facts and you can see the truth.abadi is a very weak leader and takes his orders from iran. this is why nothing has ever been accomplished since he took office. a recent example is davos and ku. abadi made himself look like an ass clown. this is why most of the money promised by other countries  were never been given
