United States: We will restore basic services to the Syrian government after a sensational defeat

The United States will lead efforts to help remove rubble and restore basic services in the Syrian capital after the defeat of the Da'ash organization there, the State Department said.

"We will help and be primarily at the forefront in restoring water, electricity and other services in tenderness," US State Department spokesman Heather Naort said on Thursday.

"The United States and its allies have prepared for the next steps and we will continue to work with our partners to provide humanitarian assistance to those in need and to support efforts to stabilize the region and other liberated areas," she said.

Col. Ryan Dillon, spokesman for the International Coalition Against Fighting, said earlier that 90 percent of Raqqa had been liberated and 350 members of Da'ash surrendered to Syria's democratic forces in the past few days.
