After numerous time lines have come and gone on the expected liberation of Mosul we are finally to the point of the last "patch" being cleared out.

They were close enough yesterday to bring out Abadis victory announcement ...I am surprised to read that they still talk about 100's of IS fighters remaining.

The statement looks like an exact quote of what we have been hearing for days now.

Lots of guessing going on but clearly the operation is coming to a close from the military side.

So when the battle is over in Mosul, they still have a war to fight, there will be decades of blood shed in Iraq, there has been before & there will be continually, over a half million displace citizens from Mosul not counting the entire country, starvation, sicknesses, still more terrorism, Iraq can't even take care of there own citizens basic needs , & you expect to get rich from this ?
I think it's time for many of you to get a life.

I hear ya, but I think the theory is we (the U.S.) rebuild their country (like we did in Japan) but not when our people are being paid pennies on the dollar. Iraq will raise the value of their currency (since it can only be spent in Iraq) to pay contractors, engineers, etc. who won't work there for monopoly money. Iraq has (so the rumor goes) agreed to issue oil credits to the U.S. (long-term contracts) at $32 per barrel. Anything over that is pure profit for the U.S. Iraq must decide if they want to become the Las Vegas of the Middle East or remain a sand pit. Again, that's the theory on how IQD will be RV'd. Anyone have any other hypothesis? Just curious.

A country can't just magically raise the value of their currency any more than we can magically raise the balance in our checking account.
