President Fuad Masum has received an official invitation from King Salman bin Abdul Aziz to attend the Arab-American Islamic Summit meeting to be held in Riyadh on the 21st of this month.

A statement issued by the Iraqi presidency that the charge d'affaires of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Baghdad Abdul Aziz al-Shammari transferred to Masoum invitation to attend the summit, which aims to establish a serious partnership to confront extremism and terrorism.

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said last week that Saudi Arabia would host an Arab-Muslim summit at the leaders' level on May 21, in the presence of US President Donald Trump .

Al-Jubeir stressed that the summit aims at building a new partnership between the Arab and Islamic world on the one hand and the United States on the other to confront the dangers of extremism and terrorism and to spread the values ​​of tolerance and coexistence among peoples.

Al-Jubair said that the upcoming trip to the kingdom will be historical by any standards, adding that the visit will include a bilateral summit and summit with leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council and a meeting with Arab and Muslim leaders.

He said he would start a "real historic meeting in Saudi Arabia with leaders from all over the Muslim world," adding that he would start from Saudi Arabia to build a new base of cooperation and support with the "Muslim allies" to combat Extremism and terrorism.
