IRAQ TO OPEN DOMESTIC AIRPORTS IN ALL THE COUNTRY’S PROVINCES

SULAIMANI – Iraq’s Minister of Transportation and Communications has said the government will create domestic airports in all the provinces of Iraq including an airport at Dukan Lake in Sulaimani.
The Civil Airports, Tourism and Air Cargo Forum was held in the city of Sulaimani on Wednesday (May 3) to evaluate the ability of tourist companies and planes.

Transportation and Communications Minister Kazim Finjan Humami, told reporters during the forum that the government of Iraq would create more domestic airports in the country.

“We will build domestic airports in all the provinces of Iraq,” the minister said. “In northern Iraq, we will reconstruct and develop Mosul International Airport after the liberation of Mosul.”

“We are making preparations to build airports in the cities of Kirkuk and Duhok. We will also build an airport at the Lake of Dukan,” Humami added.

The Kurdistan Region's Acting Minister of Transportation and Communications, Mawlud Bawamirad, who was also present at the event, told reporters that the forum showed the development of aviation in the region.
Up to 70 domestic and international tourist companies also participated in two exhibitions that were opened in the forum for tourist companies.

The forum was the first in the city of Sulaimani with a number of officials, businessmen and tourist companies in attendance.
