I think they are pretty neutral (no one can be perfectly so of course) and that Frontline is the best in depth news program available. Why don't you watch the program and THEN pass judgement rather than doing so before hand?

I don't claim so for all of PBS, but I think Frontline is pretty fair, and this show in particular was mostly about the candidates upbringing, what made them who they are, not about campaign issues. I found it pretty interesting.

I'll grant you they're better than some, but I still find them biased. Even if I didn't, ... I would not watch it anyway based on the title... I tire of all this ancient prophecy/Nostradamus/New Age Mystic crap.

I'm not suggesting that you watch the crap prophecy video, but to watch the Fronline episode "The Choice 2016". no new age mystic prophecy involved.

"anymore" as if there used to be? what is "real news"? You can not possibly report every event on the planet. Selecting what to report and in what order does not necessarily imply an intent to distort (thought that certainly exists too).

Everyone sees the the world through the filter of their own biases. How can you tell if what you claim is biased reporting or an agenda, is not just fair reporting that does not match YOUR bias (and the same for me and everyone else)?

Other than the data on things like time devoted to candidates or certain stories etc (i.e. objective measures, which are few and far between for this area) determining what is fair and what is not is extremely difficult, perhaps impossible. Certainly there are many media sources (big and small) that do have an agenda (by their own admission), and I think that avalanche of viewpoints may tend to lead one to think all news sources are this way, but I don't think its necessary so.

Bias can come in many subtle ways. The choice of words for example. Two words can have the same meaning, yet one carries negative connotations while the other carries a negative connotation. You can effect the message by the words you choose to portray an event.

Of course! and there are certainly folks who go out of their way to use such words to advance their view. But also there is NO way to describe anything that won't be viewed as biased by someone. We all view such things through our own pre-judgements. A number of studies have shown that we typically pick and chose various "facts" more to justify our pre-conceptions on issue than to actually come to a conclusion on those issues.

What's happening jrg? Seems to me like you are on the attack mode for the board members. Say what you want but there is no sense in attacking the board members who are addressing the post. Sorry to have appeared that way. I don't mean to be attacking anyone. I argue against only the content of what people post not the people that post it. As I said I think the idea that all news sources have an agenda and that somehow that was al different in the past, does not stand up to scrutiny. I think that's all I said, I didn't insult anyone or call anyone names or such like. I have only been posting here for a year or so and not that frequently, but have been using the net since it was invented so am pretty familiar with such environments.
