Here's the first paragraph of the article:
"WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal regulators are suing 11 firms they say broke the law by selling foreign-currency contracts to the public without being registered with a government agency."
The key word is CONTRACTS. We haven't bought any foreign-currency CONTRACTS. We bought foreign CURRENCY.

You bought from a dealer, not a trader. Traders are forex.
