It's called a redenomination and it's happened 50+ times over the last century. You know what hasn't happened? Ever? A 10,000 - 300,000%+ RV.

The bills don't become null and void, they get replaced. Whether or not it will be easy or possible to replace trillions of them that have left Iraq is another matter, and up for debate.

It wasn't international when you could get it from WF in the US? What exactly does being international mean then?

Why would it go up in value if it were "international"? Why would there be any increased demand for it when the only thing that Iraq sells is oil and that isn't purchased in dinar? And Iraq wouldn't WANT it to be purchased in dinar, they'd much rather have USD and Euros and Yuan or whatever else, because they can use those to easily purchase the imports that they so desperately need.

Isn't Vietnam a member of the WTO? Isn't their currency international? Isn't their currency worth 1/20th of Iraq's?

Re-denomination has nothing to do with Re-valuation. When a currency is redenominated the central bank of that country will reissue notes at a decided ratios for both speculators and its citizens. For ex., If you have a 1000 INR note and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) redenominated at a ratio 1:10 then RBI will take your old 1000 INR note and issue you new 100 INR whose value stays the same.

I didn't say that they did. I was explaining a redenomination to you since you seem confused about it.

Let's start with a few simple questions for you:

What approximately is the money supply of Iraq?

What was the money supply when the dinar was worth 3 dollars?

How do Iraqs currency reserves compare to the amount of dinar they have printed?

How does the GDP/money supply for Iraq compare to that of neighboring countries, and how would that change if they RVd to 10 cents or 1 USD?

Please, use your extensive knowledge of "the real currency world of trading" to start with the above, and then we'll move on from there.

What's wrong with those people? MD obviously does not have a clue as to the answers to the questions asked and I have no doubt would not know what those numbers meant if he/she saw them!

MD if you are still around let me help you out a bit here,

Iraq's money supply is +90 TRILLION Dinars -THAT'S their total liability and the amount they have to back. A $1 "RV" would give Iraq a net worth of 90 TRILLION Dollars (more than twice the currency that collectively exists on Planet Earth!) and they have at most 70 to 80 BILLION Dollars (being generous with the figures, you can look them up it's actually a bit less) to back up that 90 TRILLION! That's over 1000 times more Dinars than Dollars backing them meaning the Dinar is over 1000 times LESS valuable than the Dollar or about,,,,,let's see here,,,,,,ah here we go 1166 to 1!

When the Dinar was worth $3 they had approximately the same amount (+/-75 Billion) Dollars worth of reserves BUT they only had around 25 BILLION Dinars instead of over 90 TRILLION as they do today, ok 75 Billion backing 25 Billion gives us,,,,,,,,guess what $3!!!!!!!!!

It's easy if you just get your head out of ,,,,,,,,,,,,err, the clouds and look at the figures, the figures don't lie but gurus do!
