I GOT YOU SOME INFORMATION ON HOW STANDARD AND POORS RATE SOVEREIGNS. STANDARD AND POOR'S: "Three factors also drive a sovereign's external score, namely our view of the status of a sovereign's currency in international transactions, the sovereign's external liquidity, and its external indebtedness, which shows residents' assets and liabilities relative to the rest of the world. The initial rating process typically takes four to six weeks to complete, but can run longer or shorter. This initial process begins when the contract is signed and generally ends with the publication of the rating." IT'S VERY CLEAR THAT IRAQ NEEDS AN INTERNATIONAL RATE BEFORE THEY GET THE CREDIT RATING, ALSO THE WHOLE PROCESS COULD TAKE 4-6 WEEKS.

This is just another stupid thing that the gurus have grabbed onto because of an article that mentioned CREDIT RATINGS. Why was it never mentioned before as being something necessary for an RV? Because, it wasn't in an article for the gurus to grab and make a big deal out of.

Well, don't worry, Ramadan is coming, and they will have to start throwing THAT into the mix too. Oh and wait, remember it can't happen until 100 camels fart simultaneously! They are training the camels as we speak. They are on lock down and won't be let out until they get it right ! GO RV !

Yes, I read the article elsewhere. I also downloaded and read the entire PDF from S&P discussing how they rank sovereigns, and there is not one word anywhere in the article that so much as implies that a country has to have an internationally accepted or traded currency. Could not having one effect a country's credit rating? Perhaps, but that is only one of many factors that S&P takes into account.

Even if that WERE the case, there is nothing that dictates that the Dinar has to RV to be internationally traded. Take the dong, just to mention another guru favorite. It IS internationally traded, Vietnam IS a full member of the WB and IMF, and the dong is worth far less than the dinar.
