Bad News For Woman Who Decided To Leave Home And Join ISIS Tareenashakil

By Kathryn Schroeder, Sun, January 18, 2015

A woman who left her home with her toddler son to join ISIS has been detained in Turkey after fleeing the terrorist organization. She may now be sent back to Syria.
Tareena Shakil, 25, left her home in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, last year after telling her family she was going on holiday to Spain with her son.

Instead, Tareena went to Syria to join ISIS and sent a text message when she crossed the border illegally into Raqqa, Syria.

“At first no one suspected anything, then she said she was at the border of Syria. She sent us messages saying she’d gone over for a new life, that she had been radicalised,” said her brother Tareem Shakil.

A Facebook page was set up allegedly by Tareena saying she was a “slave to Allah.”
Tareena’s new life with ISIS did not go as planned.

Tareem said soon after she joined ISIS, she sent a message saying, “Please help me, I made a stupid mistake. Please Dad, will you come here and get me?”
"He was planning to go out there, but she made the escape herself. She thought she’d rather die trying to get away,” Tareem said.

Tareena was being forced to marry a one-legged fighter by ISIS, so she fled the organization and crossed the border to Turkey, reports The Daily Mail.
Now Tareena is being held in the Turkish border town of Gaziantep. Her father has flown to the city with her British birth certificate in a bid to have his daughter returned to the U.K.
Returning to the U.K. may not be a possibility for Tareena, as she crossed the border into Syria illegally and Turkey has the right to return her there.

“Tareena doesn’t have an automatic right to return to the UK,” a Foreign Office source told Mirror. “The Turkish authorities could decide to send her back to Syria.

“She entered Syria illegally and the normal action is to return illegal immigrants to the country they’ve come from. It’s unlikely she would be sent to Syria but not impossible.
“They are on the front line of the war with IS and will have little sympathy towards her.”
Should Tareena be allowed back to the U.K., she would be interrogated over possible terror offenses and placed on a course of “de-radicalization”.

I am sorry, but I have zero sympathy for this young lady.  Ship her ass right back to Syria and let her 'husband' punish her in accordance with the bastardized version of the Koran that she signed up for.

She made decisions.  She made bad decisions.  She made decisions that should pretty much be fatal to her.  She wanted the life.  She wanted the experience.  She wanted to be a part of this version of Islam.  So, let her enjoy every bit of the experience and the consequences of her decisions.

I am not even going to call those people radicalized.  They aren't.  They have one version of the religion and that version is as valid as any of the others as far as it goes.  It's a harsh religion with harsh rules and harsh punishments.  Sign up for the life and as far as I am concerned you can go to your grave with the decision.  I've no sympathy for her.  Or for her parents either.

People die every single day because of the decisions they've made and no one seems to really care about them.  The junkie.  The thief.  The racer.  The drinker.    -----  I am sure that each one of those people wished that their daddies would come and save them from the end of their life too.

I am not quite sure why this is a story.  Sure, she's a scared young girl.  Sure, she doesn't want the bad things.

Tough $%*$.  You made your decision and you will pay the consequences.

I don't think her son should be made to suffer. At least they should let her father take her son back to the UK. As for her...she's Muslim right. So it's in her jeans to already be a bad seed.

How does one become radicalized anyway? Was she watching youtube day and night, chatting with her friends or skyping with some looser over in Syria?  Looks like she was a single mother with no husband...isn't that taboo in Muslim culture?

How does her father know she won't come back to the UK only to pump the ISIS dogma and recruit even more people. All the ones that have come back from Syria to Canada are on a watch list and 2 have killed police officers and the soldier in Ottawa.

She's already shown she can't be trusted. I'd make sure she never got custody of her child again. She put him in grave danger. She should be taken back to the UK and treated as a terrorist.

I agree with a Cascadian....make a dumb choice,,,you live with it. And they don't get much dumber than that. What did she think she was going to achieve by joing ISIS??  They're the most hunted group in the world...how was her life going to be improved?? And then she finds out that it isn't great...well sorry sweetheart...that sucks that you made a bone head decision...but your stuck with it sweetheart.

Plus he UK has made the decision to not allow any citizens that leave to join Isis to be allowed back in to the country. I don't see any kind of problem with that...you leave to join our enemy...you can't come back when you realize it sucks....

Tareena was being forced to marry a one-legged fighter

That would have been really tough for her!  A ONE-LEGGED fighter!

I assume she'd have been happy with an able-bodied fighter?

Young mother who loved Towie and pop music 'takes her 14-month-old son to Syria after she is radicalised online in just four months'

  • Tareena Shakil, of Burton, crossed into strife-hit country from Turkey
  • Her father said former Girl Guide was a fan of the Spice Girls and Towie
  • She reportedly became radicalised over the internet in just four months
  • She set up Facebook page under fake name and posted extremist messages
  • It is feared Ms Shakil plans to marry a jihadi in ISIS stronghold of Raqqa
  • 25-year-old is the latest young British woman to head to strife-hit region
  • Her father said: ‘We are distraught that our daughter has chosen this path'

(she became obsessed? Maybe she should have gotten a job instead of sitting at home all day...lazy bich)

A young mother who loved the TV show The Only Way is Essex has run away to Syria with her baby son after becoming obsessed with extremist propaganda she found online.
Tareena Shakil, 25 – a one-time Spice Girls fan, school prefect and Girl Guide – was so fascinated with the ITV reality show that she travelled 150 miles to buy clothes at a shop run by one of its stars.
Yesterday her parents said she was wearing items she bought there when she set off for Syria, lying to her family that she was taking her 14-month-old son on holiday to Spa

Her father Mohammed Shakil, 42, said: ‘We are absolutely distraught that our beautiful, bright, intelligent daughter has chosen this path. I have never cried so much in my life and would do anything to have her and our grandson back in our arms.’

It is feared Miss Shakil plans to marry a jihadi in the Islamic State stronghold of Raqqa
Miss Shakil grew up in Burton-on-Trent in Staffordshire.
Tareena did drama....and was in the Guides,’ her father told The Sun. ‘She loved the Spice Girls and TOWIE.’
Mr Shakil said she did a psychology degree and got married, although she later divorced.

But around four months ago she set up a Facebook page under the name Tameena al Amirah and started posting extremist messages, including images of Islamist fighters and the IS black flag, and calling herself a ‘slave to Allah’.

Last week she set off with Zaheem, telling her family she was going to Spain. In reality she bought a ticket to Turkey, from where she crossed the porous border into Syria.

‘There was no reason to suspect,’ her father said. ‘She left wearing jeans and a top she bought in a shop owned by one of the TOWIE stars. My little grandson shouldn’t be going through this.’

Miss Shakil has told her family she is in Raqqa and can never return. One message reads: ‘I can’t come back there now … we can’t. Tell her don’t cry. Read the Koran, I love you mummy!’

Of her journey, she wrote: ‘So many people died coming. They got shot at the border. But we made it. We ran across the border in the blazing sun.’

At their housing association home in Burton-on-Trent yesterday, Mr Shakil and his wife Mandy, 47, were too upset to discuss the news.
But in a statement, her father said: ‘We brought Tareena up in a Western environment, while respecting the culture of Islam, and hoped that she would take the best of both worlds.’

The 25-year-old grew up in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire (pictured) and loved Towie and the Spice Girls
Mr Shakil, who has served a prison sentence for dealing drugs, said: ‘I, myself, have made mistakes in the past but it never affected that close, deep bond that exists in special father-and-his-daughter relationships. Like any father, I just want the best for my daughter.
‘We want her to know how much we love her and want her back safely as soon as possible.’
Mr Shakil was jailed for 28 months in 2011 after police stopped his car and found crack cocaine, heroin and mobile phones he used to deal drugs.
He admitted possessing a knife. His son Tazeem, 22, featured regularly in a local paper which dubbed him ‘Burton’s most prolific persistent young offender’, with 20 convictions and an Asbo by age 14.
