Anyone else notice that it says 21094 VND = 104 USD??  Which on my calculator works out to be .0047 USD per VND.  Seems like a simple decimal glitch to me...but of course these dummies get all excited at the slightest screw up...and anyone that went to the bank with that needs to be hit upside the head.

Exactly...I've got 5mil VND...I'll take .47 in a heart beat...invested $600 or so...get back $2.35 mil....SOLD!!!!!!!

This is really the crux of this hole thing....people are sooooo damn greedy that guys like Tony and Okie spewing out ridiculous #'s like they are is going to make the sheep believe it.  If I could get my hands on a VND rate of .47....I couldn't get to the bank fast enough.  Would $11 or whatever other silly rates that they are talking about be nicer...of course...but lets be real...that will never happen. Peoples sheer greed is what is keeping them hook to Tony and the rest of the manuer spreaders.

Personally I would take .08 for the VND.  Why not?  It's an honest return for a supposedly honest investment (qualified in that this is actually an internationally traded currency as opposed to the Iraqi Dinar which is not).  One spends $80 and gets back $80,000:  WHY NOT?  Shoot a bear, $8.000 would be quite a return on that investment if one hold a million VND.  Granted for a period of say 5 years that return rate would not seem like much, but what would you have gotten for your $80 on interest at a bank?  Time to be reasonable and not greedy.  Pie in the sky rates are just that: so high that they are not realistic and certainly not probable.  Would I take the supposedly reported $11 per VND?  I'd be crazy if I did not, but let's face it - IT WILL NEVER BE THAT HIGH for we mere mortals if it ever would get that high in the first place.

Let's get these supposed RV's over with and move on.  Some of us have decided to hold what we have and have moved on to other things.  I might add that one of the things I moved into has already paid me back all of the money I invested in foreign currency the first year I was in it and I am currently working on the second years investment.  Strange how one hand can assist the other isn't it.  Who would of "thunk" it:  oil supporting currency.  Go figure.

Aksafeone, while i do agree with much of what you say, I don't understand the term 'greedy".

As with any investments I have made over the years and continue to do so, I never think of it as being greedy. I think of it as making money.  I go into an investment strictly make money.  Greed doesn't enter a part of it.

I hear that a lot on the Dinar sites. They act as if this is a "blessing".  I don't look at it like that. It's an investment. Much like when bonds or certificates were issued. I bought bonds with money and got more money back...eventually.  I think the same way with stocks. I don't look at any gain as a "blessing" or that I am greedy.

Same as the Dong. I bought it as an investment. I would like to make some money on it. Whether it be the Dinar or Dong, I would like to come out ahead.

In my mind, I guess I associate greed with dishonesty and underhandedness. Isn't that one of the deadly sins in the bible and forgive me, I am not a bible reading person.

Most people I know did this to make money. Not because their heart was in the right place.  If there is a member on any site that did this for the "betterment of Iraq" please step forward and post here.

Iraq makes money by us purchasing their currency just as we will make money (hopefully) on a exchange should it increase.

As to what someone would sell/cash in/or take for their Dinar or Dong is a matter of personal preference and risk. If we even have the luxury of making that decision. I know I don't consult a forum when to buy or sell any of my stocks.  When I wait for it to rise I do so and sell and consider myself lucky I made the right choice but I never consider my gain as greed.  It's a risk I took that paid off.

Goldengirl:  Basically I define greedy as:  taking or expecting to take unrealistic profits from basically ridiculously small amounts of investment.  I long ago (learned in business) decided that taking a small profit from the same group of customers over a long period of time was far better for my business than gambling on the "big score (greed)" and following the roller coaster of that thinking.

A wise man once told us that mountains can be taken down, but one small scoop at a time.  In investments I have learned it is better to expect a modest or small return and NEVER to reject the once in a life time huge return.  The only trick with that theory is one has to be better at it than I am when one decided "it is time to take the big one."  Usually I am a dollar short or a day late on that - soooooo I am satisfied in taking small to moderate gains and "trolling" for others.

Typically those that get massive gains quickly do not retain the wealth for long.  Those that gradually amass said gains usually retain much of those gains and turn them into great gains.  I like to think I am the little engine that could rather than the monster that grabbed and went into infinity.  I know I'm a strange person - have to be to think that way, huh?

Thanks Aksafeone, it's Goldiegirl not Goldengirl. I'm still waiting for my ship of Gold to come in then I would consider myself Golden...LOL

Modest or small gain is fine with me. I think we all stated (most of those who responded here or on the other thread) they would take their small gain, run and never look back.

But, I don't consider someone holding out to be greedy. Example.

I owned stock options and when I left the company I held the stock for a while.  Sold it for a mere profit (gain) whatever but no where near what the BIG EXECS made when they went IPO. Never paid off my house but allowed me to invest in a few things including the Dinar.

I have friends who didn't sell like I did. They held out. Were they greedy. I don't know. I sold t at $22.90 and it's sitting at $98 today. Is that greed or did they just take a risk?  Good luck to them and anyone else who holds their Dinar or Dong (Oh that didn't sound right...lol) longer than any low revalue.  Good luck to them.  I'm just not fond of the word greed.  I guess someone could always twist my scenario and say I was greedy to take my small gain from that company stock and run.

Greed was the BIG EXECS who cashed in at a ridiculous high IPO start and watched it rise in the few days/weeks of going public.  Greed was holding back the little people like me who built that startup company and did without the perks and raises and everything you would expect over the years. Greed was watching them make millions (even newbies to the company that just happened to have a high position) allowing them to cash out and keeping us held back for over a year where it dropped like a rock into sinking water where it couldn't put a damper on your debt.

That is greed. Dishonest and underhandedness!!!

I have to admit, I don't track the Dong like the Dinar. I don't even know where the value is from when I bought my Dong.

Like I have said (maybe not on this forum but in the past) if I double my money I would be happy enough. It's watching it flush down the toilet that concerns me a bit. Had enough of that in the past.

Gotta use your gut in many situations like this.  All the investigating is great but it really comes down to how much will you risk.  Maybe my dad had the right idea. Stick it in safe GIC's and Bonds and at least your money doesn't disappear.  Well not at the moment it doesn't.

No risk No gain. That's what I have heard as well over the years.

We are all strange..LOL We invested and took a chance, but I would rather take a chance than sit there wishing my ship will come in one day while I do nothing about it like a few people in my family do, watching reality shows.

In my business we call that elephant hunting. I focus on the small sales & if an elephant comes along great ... but I have a steady income in the meantime even now as I move toward semiretirement.

And how about a little Dong Pumping? --Vietnamese Dong - Showing $0.47 - Private Group Exchange Opportunity Empty Private Group Rate on Dong

Post by ClassyONE Wed Apr 16, 2014 3:11 pm

I wonder if the 0.47 cent rate is a float rate and could go a little higher. I too, would love to get the 0.47 cent rate but there are many more things to think about such as could it go a little higher, are there forms like NDAs that you will have to fill out for that rate, will it be recognized as an investment or exchange, how much will the bank keep for profits, where will this take place, and credibility of the members of starting the group. All of this comes into play.We are told never let your money leave your hands unless it's at a bank and on the up and up.

Spoken like a true sheeple....

NDA'S are garbage...won't ever happen. The worst you can expect is an exchange fee and a tax form. Where it will take place...any bank or currency exchange center IN THE WORLD will do it. Rates may fluctuate between places but if it's a valid exchange rate you can do it anywhere. There are no exchamge groups that will influence the rates or timing etc.

And as with any exchange rate it will fluctuate but barring a significant change in a countries economics rates won't change that much...I would be surprised to see a rate that was RV'd fluctuate all that much...maybe 10-15% at best IMO.

I don't think the Dong will see .47 in my life time. I just checked and the price has dropped since i got mine in June 2012.  Probably another waste of money but at least I think I can sell it back to the the dealer but my loss would be 50%.
