Old Times Revisited?
I was just taking a little trip down memory lane, looking at member names and remembering some folks we have not seen in a very long time. I sorted by join date, and was browsing down through the list. One of the things I realized is that as I browsed down through the list, very, very few of the early members were still active. In fact, it took me quite a while to fill the fingers of one hand.
The other thing I noticed will not come as a surprise to those who have been members for a while. Th vast majority of those inactive members became inactive during the 1st half of 2011. I wonder how many are still drinking the Oakmeister's kool-aid?
Sad really ....

Re: Old Times Revisited?
A few of us will be in and out until life has ceased, but you are right, many of the "old ones" have moved on and don't come anymore. Maybe they got out. We already know unfortunately some have passed on. Maybe they have now put it away in a safe and check once a quarter. Maybe they wallpapered their mud room.
I think that there is more and more "resale" of dinar - been watching E-bay for the last year - some have even gone so far as to "auction" starting at 1/2 of what they paid for it.
In the end, I hope we all make it with fewer gray hairs, less stress, at a pleasant return (my TSP made 23.2% last year - happy if this does 1% profit).
Even when this is over, those around can keep in touch. I feel like I know many of you as family now, why shouldn't we have dinner ? Just tell me who's buying BEFORE we get there....jk

Re: Old Times Revisited?
IQD4US...I agree, I feel like we know each other, we just haven't met! We have stuck together through a lot. We could have some kind of reunion! Shoot Tony is taking his people all to Vegas!!!! I would just like a simple get together so we could meet and just and go down Memory lane! I do have plans to visit a few of the members, or for them to come and visit me, so we could all find someplace we could all get together! We will all have enough money after the RV to take a little trip!

How 'bout we all meet in Kansas City? Maybe for the sentencing of TNT Tony? And we could even wear matching tee-shirts!

Many have moved on. Sold dinar, put the dinar away, or passed away. But, there are more of the "oldies" than you think. The site is totally open viewing whether you are logged in or not. We get over a thousand visitors a day. Many are members new and old who just don't bother to log in. You would be surprised how many have dropped me a line thru PM to let me know they are lurking. They just don't have the energy to be full blown participants. This dinar thingy is a very exhausting Journey.
I appreciate those of you that are visible and participate. I loved you then in the past and I love you today and I will continue to love each one of you in the future. You are all a part of who I am... My today is tomorrow's memories. Thanks so much for being a part of it.

Re: Old Times Revisited?
Yea, I hear you Ponee ... I was wondering how many were lurkers, how many were still hanging on every word from Okie, and how many simply moved on or gave up. I was kinda hoping we might pull some lurkers out if only to say hi ... Oh well ...

I moved this thread to the GENERAL ... the COFFEE SHOP is only seen by logged in members... the GENERAL is seen by all guests and members. Maybe the lurkers will pop on and chat.

Re: Old Times Revisited?
I have been speaking with some who went to other sites after the whole "okie" thing, and I keep telling them that they don't have to come back under their old name if they don't want to - but that they CAN still ALWAYS come back. No one likes to look foolish, and many - including me when I first found out about Dinar - believed what Okie was saying...for a short time. Then I felt duped. Then I felt stupid. My way of dealing was research, but not all handle "appearances" the same way. I also told them that by now anything they said 2 years ago is long forgotten but would be welcomed.
We still have vim and vigor here. We still have fight. We still have strength. We still have the common ground and desire for prosperity - which is not always measured in the value of currency.
Only takes a moment to smile......

Re: Old Times Revisited?
I would love for some of the oldies to drop in and say hello. You don't have to be ashamed of going to another site, everyone has their own thoughts of what is best for them. We don't look down on anyone, except some gurus! Everyone has their own opinions! We don't always agree here but we are nice about it!
