Saad calls for a review of the decision to apply customs tariff law and apply it

{Baghdad: Euphrates News} called Rep. Susan Saad member of the Virtue government to revise its decision to apply the law of customs tariff in the next Cabinet meeting.
Saad said in a statement received by the Euphrates News Agency {} a copy of it on Tuesday, said that "the application of the customs tariff will increase the suffering of the citizens and weigh his shoulders and he needs to be well thought out economic plan to avoid the consequences at this time."
She added: "We call on the government to review the decision in the Cabinet meeting next and applied gradually and in accordance with Article {11} First, the law of customs tariff rate which states implemented the law in stages," pointing out that "the decision has negative economic impacts caused by the muzzle market Iraqi because of high prices on the one hand and the limited income citizens on the other. "

On the subject of tariffs, one thing has been niggling at me. I have not had the time to research it yet, but I do not see why tariffs are essential. As long as policies (laws) are in effect and applied equally to all, I believe that would meet WTO requirements. You can charge duties on incoming goods or not, THAT makes no difference to the WTO as long as whatever is done is done in a fair manner.
