The United States welcomed the talks Barzani and Maliki in Baghdad

Baghdad/Obelisk: Washington Sunday, welcomed the visit by the President of the Kurdistan region Massoud Barzani to Baghdad and met with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, urged Iraqi leaders to stick to the spirit of reconciliation to overcome terrorism.

The Administration's position was contained in a statement distributed by the Embassy got "the Obelisk", since "the United States welcomes the visit by Kurdistan Regional President Massoud Barzani in Baghdad on July 7 and meet with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki."

The statement added that "the US Government urges all Iraqi leaders to stick to the spirit of reconciliation and national unity in order to overcome the threats of terrorism and the strengthening of democratic institutions in the country and promoting prosperity for all Iraqis."

Al-Maliki and Barzani convened, on Sunday, a press conference after a meeting of parliamentary blocs who participated by Barzani in Iraqi Parliament building.

Maliki stressed that "solving problems realistically and fraternity to fortify the country of alchegnat and tensions in the region and no interest for Iraq with components vulnerable to events in the region", stating "even these interactions we can not sweep us strengthen our interior by working with our partners in the country."

"Our responsibility is to provide services and stability in every inch of the land of Iraq after that frees us from the foreign presence and from Chapter VII, we have the ability and desire to help to move forward in the service of the Iraqi people."

Barzani said "my visit with my party and Government delegation to Baghdad in order to send a message to the outside and inside we are brothers are keen to communicate especially and we are in an area full of problems and crises that we will pass her by our cooperation."

"Maliki's visit to Erbil has had a significant impact in removing obstacles and my visit today her stretch and we will take steps to activate the joint commissions", adding "there are problems and different orientations between the Government and the territory there is a Constitution can be referenced and are ready to cooperate with Al-Maliki and his Government for Iraq and Iraqis."

"Strengthening the internal unity to prevent threats to Iraq and the cooperation between the territory and the Federal Government would be a solid base for solving all problems," asserted that "the Syrian people is determined his fate and we reject any interference in its affairs."

Barzani also avoided answering a question about his position on arming the Iraqi army.
