Site and CPU Usage Empty Site and CPU Usage

Post by MidnightRider Mon May 27, 2013 11:22 am

I have a performance monitor on my computer and I notice everytime I come to this site my computer runs a little slower. Started watching my meter and now see everytime I come here it maxes out the usage on the CPU at 100%. I can close the window and the usage levels back out. Anyone know what is causing this?.

I used to leave the window to this site open while I am doing other stuff but now I close it because I realized it is slowing down my computer.

I have not noticed that problem, I rarely see CPU usage go over 50% with my dual core AMD64 system or my older 32 bit dual core ... the biggest hog is presentationfontcache.exe. which consumes a huge amount of resources. It's a pain, but if you use anything based upon the .net framework all you can do is periodically delete the cache contents. Check that ... if it is a problem go here:
http://blog.tune-up.com/myth-buster/the-case-of-the-mysterious-presentation-font-cache-cpu-hog/ They have pretty good instructions on how to handle it.

Site and CPU Usage Empty Re: Site and CPU Usage

Thanks very much Kevin, I actually just disabled it.

What really first prompted me to notice it was the fan going crazy when I am on this site, of which the link you provided describes.

So I have disabled and rebooted and opened only one window. On this site right now the fan is racing and CPU usage at 100%, leave the page for another and fan slows pretty much immediately and cpu drops to normal. Odd but before I intially posted I checked several sites I visit and this does not occur but once I get here, fan races and cpu usage surges. Thanks again!!

Interesting ... I am actually running less than 20% right now ... The only thing I can think of is that the site uses flash player, perhaps that is causing a problem. Try clearing the cache's there and see what happens ... I have seen that cause problems on other sites -- usually slow response, but maybe...
