This is a question that has been sent to me by pm on a few occassions. Thought I would post it for others that have this question:

"A lot of my dinar has writing and bank stamps on them. I have been told that the CBI won't exhange them. Is this true?"

I have heard that poor condition of bills can be a problem. I suspect that as long as your bank accepts them you will be good to go. I imagine that the CBI will accept them through the system and just destroy them if they are not in acceptable condition. All of mine are uncirculated, so I never gave it a lot of thought though ...

Same here Kevin. Mine are uncirculated also so I didn't really think about it. I know that many countries are very particular about the condition of their money, but maybe Iraq will be a little less picky?

I seem to remember reading some articles that they are, however we will not be dealing with the street, or even an Iraqi bank, but with our local bank who will return them -- central bank to central bank in accordance with BIS rules. At least that's my best guess.
