Baghdad (NINA) – Minister of Oil, Abdul Kareem Luaibi, said that Turkey refuses to allow laying oil and gas pipeline from Kurdistan Region without the Central Government's consent.

In a statement to the press on Monday, Feb. 25, Luaibi said that Turkey has officially informed Iraq that it refuses to lay oil and gas pipelines from Kurdistan Region without the consent of the Government of Baghdad.

Earlier, the government of Kurdistan Region asserted its intension to execute laying an oil pipeline through Turkey.

On Feb. 2, spokesman for the Region's government, Seveen Deza'e, told NINA that negotiations with Turkish side are being underway and have reached an advanced stage.

He added, "The Federal Constitution allows the Region construct and execute oil infra structure and it does not require a permission of Federal Government, since oil revenue will go to Iraq's Budget. / End
