Glad we don't sing it in Curbstone ... of course right now I am singing lead so it wouldn't be too bad ... of course I may be singing tenor after the 1st of the year, we need at least one more, and I have the range ...

Wanamaker's (now Macy's) in Philadelphia is famous for two things, their organ (they have an entire floor dedicated to maintenance and upkeep of the organ and a full time organ tuner/mechanic as well as a world class organist on salary), and the giant eagle in the lobby.

Hey SEB. betchca I can eat more frosted x-mas cookies than you can!!! When it comes to x-mas goodies I'm just an old fashion "kid" at heart. Best thing is to be in the kitchen when all the baking is going on - only they usually have to do it twice since I "hog down" handfuls, yohoho. Then again I like playing Santa - he ALWAYS gets cookies left for him.

Back to Christmas music: Ponee and others, how are you making the youtube videos show up now? Somehow the youtube format has changed, and I can't get to the long links anymore. So I can do a link, but I can't embed the video. How are you all doing it? I've got LOTS of Christmas faves, but I don't want to make people click on a link. I'd like to go back to embedding the actual video. Thanks for any help from any of you tech wizards!

I'm sorry about my 'liking' the Brenda Lee' version of the song that I chose, I always thought it had quite a 'gallop' to it- You can take it down, if you want to, I didn't know it would make people puke, or get upset- I won't ever do that again-Jezum petes-Maybe the music of the 'Vienna Waltz' would be more fitting and appropriate-I hate the National Anthem, too, because the real meaning of what it stands for disappeared long ago, But I still listen to it-I'm done- I LOOOVE CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!!!! Aww, Terbo. Don't pay any attention to me. I didn't mean to insult you personally over your appreciation of Brenda Lee's Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree. I'm old enough to remember her appearing on American Bandstand, and who knows why we like or dislike something. Anyhoo, please don't get your feelings hurt. I can't afford to be on Santa's naughty list this close to Christmas!

TERBO, I LIKE that version of ROCKIN ROUND the Christams tree. It is actually just about the only one I know of . And, there really wasn't any other on youtube so it must be a favorite of many. I have been listening to all of the songs that people are sharing on here. I hope others add more too.

Gosh, I can't find my favorite rendition of Santa Baby by Bernadette Peters. I saw it on television many years ago and I can't find it on YouTube. It might have been before YouTube's time. Yeah, I'm that old. I would be sad if I never heard it again. If anyone finds it, please post it!

I grew up with Brenda Lee. Love her!

I agree with you, aim88, that Bernadette Peters' rendition of "Santa Baby" is the best one out there. But Eartha Kitt's was, I think, the original. And it's a good one, too.

I remember seeing Eartha Kitt on Ed Sullivan or one of those shows when I was just a wee lass. It was before she moved to France. I saw her again many years later when she was in a live production of Cinderella. She was in her 70's at the time, and still had the amazing growl/purr for which she was famous and those fantastic legs. She was a real pistol!
