Re: To All MY American Friends
Don't know about the rest of you BUT I had a peaceful, calm, aroma enhanced Thanksgiving. We shared harmony and mirth along with the traditional menu to make it a fantastic day.
Now if we can get the rest of dinar world to follow suit and RV this thing I am sure that our "thanks givings" will be numerous and loud. Yet, we give thanks for being in this investment (frustrating though it has become) and also for the opportunity to make new an numerous friends along the way. After the hub bub has passed and the "thrill" of the blessed event has faded those friends will be there still.
Thanks for being here for me - and god speed in your endeavors.

A gen-yew-ine wooden nickel is probably worth more than 5 cents.

Re: To All MY American Friends
Many wooden nickels sell anywhere from ten to fifteen cents apiece to
several dollars, depending on the number of pieces struck, the theme,
condition, artwork, etc. Very few pieces bring over five dollars.
Wooden nickels (tokens) have been an advertising tool for shops all the way up to cities, towns and states. Centennials usually have them made and passed out as a gimmick - buy the mayor for $$ payable in wooden nickels etc. There are collectors who hunger after these tokens.
Then of course the coined (no pun intended) phrase, "not worth a wooden nickel" has been around for a long time. Interesting topic to google when one has the time.
Good one SEB. I have several myself - interesting pieces of history.

There are some really nice ones ... I think this is the obverse side of the same one ...

They range from exquisite workmanship to cheezy stamps ...

Re: To All MY American Friends
Once walked into a small bar in Cuba Mo. Played pool with the local shark and won 3 games in a row. Then the shark went behind the bar and handed me a wooden nickel. He told me that was good for a free drink the next time I came in.
About 6 or 7 months later I walked in put the wooden nickel on the bar, ordered a beer and the the same nice man brought the beer asking what the disk was for. Reminding him of who I was and the time he cussed me out, put a second beer on the bar and told me to put the wood chip back into my pocket. To this day (12 years now) I still keep my first wooden nickel.
