. .Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has just okayed a VND10.5 trillion (US$601 million) plan to develop an international airport in the central province of Khanh Hoa, the Vietnamese government said. . .Under the plan, the small domestic airport of Cam Ranh will be upgraded into an international airport by 2020, and it will cover 657.9 hectares. . .By 2020, the airport expects to receive 27 airplanes a day, 5.5 million
passengers per year and 100,000 metric tons of cargo a year. . .By 2030, the airport is projected to serve 37 airplanes a day, eight million passengers per year and 200,000 tons of cargo per year, the government said. . .
Vietnam also plans to invest approximately VND17.25 trillion to develop Phu Bai Airport in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue into an international airport by 2020. . .The country estimates to need VND221.5 trillion to develop a network of 26 airports through 2020, said Vietnam News Agency.
