Banks Reduce Investment in ATM System
VietFinanceNews.com - The number of new Automated Teller Machine (ATM) increased slowly in 2011 due to high investment and operation costs and low service charges, the local newspaper Tuoi Tre (Youth) reported, citing information from Vietnam ATM card association.
By end of 2011, Vietnam had a total of 13,600 ATMs, rising 16.2% on year, including 2,100 machines equipped by Agribank (accounting for 15.4% of the bank systems’ ATM), 1,829 machines of Vietinbank (13.4%) and 1,700 machines of Vietcombank, the data from the association showed, noting that some banks have withdrawn ATM at places which have low-frequency transactions.
