let me explain something.

the current value of the dinar is .00086 when they talk about deleting the zeros, that doesn't mean the value will be .86 has nothing to do with.

they mean a 25000 dinar = 25 dinar in ratio it will still have the same value. But it won't happen before the rv anyway.

The reason for this is when it revalues let's say at $5.00 (just for illustration purposes)
a 25,000 dinar will be worth $125,000. Do you want to go to Mickey D's and buy a happy meal with $125,000 dinar bill. I don't think so.

But if you have a $25 dinar bill it would be worth $125 no where near as bad.

Makes sense now?

I understand perfectly, Clydesdale; and I have no problem with your math. In fact, I like it. I just want people to draw their own conclusions based on info they are comfortable with. So, if a rate seems to them to be W-A-Y too low or W-A-Y HIGH, then do like you might with a contractor. Throw out the low bid and the high bid and settle on something in the middle so they can sleep nights and not fret too much about things over which we have no control.

I don't know where the rate is going to be. In my opinion is will not be lower than $4 and I don't have a clue for high rate, I do feel a high rate is possible.

Just don't know where we are gonna be.

We are down home Christian folk with good values, not politicians. If we were then we might be able to have a look into the minds of those bad people. LOL

Well I will agree to disagree with your explanation. The 3 zero's are being removed from the nominal value which is .00086

Some folks are fixated on the lop theory. I have no idea why but they are. I have been told after the lop when the dinar is still pretty much worthless that the Iraqis will use it because of pride in their country. If that is so then why don't they use it now? Oh well time will tell.

After the Re-denomination, if it was to happen today, 1 dinar will equal $.86 which is almost $1USD... So how is that pretty much worthless???

The Iraqis don't like it because of the past inflation, that is now under control, the added 000's make accounting difficult and making change for smaller items is much harder... So with the removal of the 000's from the currency and exchange rate, you now only have 33 Billion dinar in circulation, with each one being roughly worth $1USD and much more in supply than the USD!!!

Ok obviously alot of people are still not sure how this supposed LOP theory works.

the current value of the dinar is .00086 the "Deleting of 3 zeros" has absolutely nothing to do with it's current value. So those who say .86 sorry, it's going to be higher than that.

The proper translation is "lifting the 3 zero's" not deleting. Big difference in meaning.

After RV and after we trade all of our 25k notes in.

They will lift the 3 0's off of the bill in circulation. Hence, Lower denoms

If you have a 25k note and it rv's at $4 that one bill is now worth $100,000 USD

Who wants to buy a few vegetables for dinner with a $100,000 bill.

Do you think you wouldn't get robbed? Do you think the store would have change?

Please don't read more into this than I just spelled out for you.

There are so many people in the dinar world that are passing around info that has nothing to do with actual happenings, or even common sense.

It's not a LOP you will get the rv rate x 25k for your notes. However after the rV, they have to have lower denoms thats what lifting the 3 zeros means.

They are not going to take value away from your 25k notes. they are simply lifting the 3 zeros, so instead of having

1000, 5000, 10000, or 25000 you would have a 1, 5, 10, 25 at an rv rate of $4 those new denoms would be worth 4, 20, 40, 100 USD alot easier to go shopping and make change for these bills with lifted zero's.

I repeat you will not lose any value.

Re-denomination is the removal/deletion/razing/or lifting of zeros from the face of the currency... It changes the face value but not the intrinsic value...
1 IQD = $.00086 USD right now. If Iraq was to do a 3 zero Re-denomination like they have been saying they are going to do for the past several years, you would remove the 000's from the face of the currency... Example: making a 25,000 (OD) dinar note into a 25 (ND) dinar note, while at the same time removing the 000's from the exchange rate for the replacement 25 (ND) note for it to have the same value or purchasing power as the notes it will be replacing... Which is also what the CBI has been stating, that the replacement currency will be equal to the current currency or have the purchasing power...
1 (OD) = .00086 or almost 1/10 of a penny... 25,000 = $21.50 USD
1 (ND) = .86 or $.86 cents... 25 = $21.50 USD

THERE IS NO DEVALUATION OF THE OLD CURRENCY... Both notes are still worth $21.50 USD!!! No money is lost!!!

As per the CBI, both currencies will exist together for two years and at the end of the two year period, the old currency will no longer be accepted for goods, but will still be able to be exchanged for the replacement/current lower denomination currency...

Azure- Most of the model railroad equipment That I own is #1, or, G-scale@ 122.5- It is used as a garden railway of sorts, but it is considered "Narrow Gauge'- Full size 'G-scale trains are 1/29 scale, a bit larger in comparison to the narrow gauge trains- And yes, they do make 'Live steam' locomotives in G-scale, but are very costly to buy and operate and repair-A decent 'Live steam locomotive is around $3500.00, where as the type of G-scale I have, A locomotive is anywhere from $160.00,to $325.00 and runs on 'DC', not'AC' current, although there are other types as well that are battery/ remote control, or radio control- I do enjoy the realistic operation of these large trains, as they run so smoothly, but you have to maintain them almost like a real one- They must be cleaned periodically, greased and oiled, just like a real one, and I have 5 steam locomotives that I have to faithfully maintain, but it is worth the effort to me- I enjoy them so very much!:cheers:Also, I do not have a 'Live steam train that anyone could ride on, but I do hope to have one some day- I have grand kids that would love to ride on a nice train like that!!

Terbo...Azure....when we were kids,our family lived in Rhodesia,now Zimbabwe.
We used to be given a treat on some Sunday afternoons...if we were well behaved of course Wink

...and taken to the Hotel Rio out South of Bulawayo,( meaning Place of Slaughter in Ndebele,the Royal Seat of the Matabele King,Lobengula,son of Mzilikazi,Founder of the Matabele Nation and the Royal House of Khumalo),to ride on the mini steam train that ran there...there was another one chugging along in the Centenary Park as well...smoke,steam,whistle, little carriages....the works...what a grand outing that was,with a coke and ice cream cone thrown in to boot....
You folk have just jogged a part of memory that was way too long cloaked and forgotten in the recesses of my childhood...thank you sooooo much!!

I went to a Gauthier's concert many, many moons ago. Bill was still singing with them then ... and he did a little poem ... I wish I could remember the whole thing, but I don't ...
