This Bill is an insult and an offense to all Americans.

This bill eliminates all the authority of "Commander and Cheif" removing our ability as a country to act quickly in defense of any Allies. It also eliminates the "Commander and Cheif's" authority to order any forward movement even during times of war without an Act of Congress which could be debated for weeks. This goes totally against the Contitution of the United States and is an unlawful bill without changing the Constitution of the United States. Every person in any branch of the m ilitary is sworn to defend that constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic and this Bill being promoted would be an enemy to the constitution, impeding the ability of our country to defend itself and allies. If there are any treaties that have the US bound to defend any ally that treaty would supercede this bill before it was even written. The writer of this Bill should be arrested for acts of attempted sabatage against the national Security of the United States.

Of course if they made it retroactive, they would have to arrest President Bush for ordering any forward movement of troops or military activity anywhere.

Our government and our constitution was formed in such a way as to exclude the possibility of one person declairing war on anybody without the approval of congress...........what don't you understand about that?

This Bill is not just limiting the ability to Declare War, it is eliminating the ability of the Commander and Cheif to command any forward movement in times of war ...... what don't YOU understand about that?



If in fact that president does anything illegal congress can already start impeachment without adding this non-sense to the constitution.

Hate to tell you this but Bush got permission from a DEMOCRAT congress.

Ken you missed the point. This bill forbids the ordering of any forward movement of troops even in times of war without an Act of Congress.

This bill in effect makes it illegal for the President to order forward military movement even in a time of war, if it gets passed. It also denies the ability to exercise judgement as the commander and Cheif in defense of our nationunder any conditions other then impending direct attack without an act of congress which even if approved by an Act of Congress would end up being too late.

Congress can already bring the president up on impeachment if he performs an illegal act with the mililtary without this Bill, this just impedes the ability of our country to act when needed. The Bill is basically an act of Sabatgae

Sorry DTconcerned, I didn't even read the post. I was just commenting on the Bush remark. He had congresses approval. I do think that the President should be able to act very quickly in time of need. I don't trust this President to look out for our interest,the same as others felt about Bush. But the President does need that powe. The same as the line item veto. Every President needs these powers.
