Sowing and Reaping For God's Glory

II Corinthians 9:10-15 (NIV)
10Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.
11You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
12This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.
13Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.
14And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you.
15Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
Message
The reaping process brings many blessings and rewards when God's principles are followed.
First, when we sow a gift for the work of the Lord, there is a blessing that comes to the one who receives the gift. This is the first evidence of God's good plan for sowing and reaping.
Second, the one who sows is always blessed in many ways. There is a joy that comes in seeing others helped. There is a satisfaction that we experience when we know we have been obedient to the Lord. We are strengthened in our spirits and souls when we sense the Lord working through us. It is exciting to know God gives us so much that we can share our abundance with others less fortunate materially and financially.
Third, and most important, the greatest blessing and reward is the glory that goes to the Lord. He set up the rules that work. We see their practicality as we put them into practice. He also shows us, by many examples in countless lives, how to go about applying the rules and practices. The example of Jesus is the most obvious one. Then we see that God first gave us those items that we gave to others, whether material or relational or spiritual.
Finally, it is God who prompts us by His Spirit to give with hearts of thanksgiving to those in need around us. From the beginning, the sowing and reaping we do is because of the order, love, and power of the Lord. He certainly is the only one who should receive glory.
