Is it possible that if we cash in at a UST department, pay our taxes right there on the spot, that we can get the rest of our money in cashier's checks and avoid the banks all together????

something must be with your bank my busisness takes out much more then that at times when some companies will not except checks never a problem

Please understand, I am only connecting the dots. These are uncharted waters and no matter how optimistic you are, this is something to be considered, planned for, and the real problem is that none of this is undocumented. I have every document available for inspection but you can find them if you wish.

I am with you as I do NOT wish any of it were true but it is.

JAYZZE : I own a Log Home Kit Company and I too have been accoustomed to withdrawing more money than this as well. That is why I was pissed. I went pretty belligerent on them because it all hit me the wrong way. I'm sure the policies will be implemented in regions as not to alarm too many people in the same place at the same time. Some people may be experiencing discriminatory application per "someone's" instructions. We really don't know do we? BUT...we do have the legislation, executive orders, and agency rulings to go by and this is my take on it.

I just want to point something out here. The deal with taking money out and having to tell the bank what you need it for is NOTHING NEW!!! I went through the same thing 10 years ago and had the same stunned reaction. When they told me I had to tell them what I wanted my money for I finally just said a shopping spree...lol... I just dont want anyone thinking this is anything new because it is NOT.

Lilcricket: Just know that a zealous banker is very different from a Banking Policy. A banker who wants you to keep your money in their bank is VERY different from a Banker who is instructed by the Feds to report you. Pull your head out of the sand.

As someone who has spent the past 35 years working in banks this is the best explanation I could find; ironically on Wikipedia.

When a transaction involving more than $10,000 in cash is processed, most banks have a system that automatically creates a CTR electronically. Tax and other information about the customer is usually pre-filled by the bank software. CTRs since 1996 include an optional checkbox at the top if the bank employee believes the transaction to be suspicious or fraudulent, commonly called a SAR, or Suspicious Activity Report. A customer is not directly told about the $10,000 threshold unless they initiate the inquiry. A customer may decline to continue the transaction upon being informed about the CTR, but this would require the bank employee to file a SAR. Once a customer presents or asks to withdraw more than $10,000 in currency, the decision to continue the transaction must continue as originally requested and may not be reduced to avoid the filing of a CTR. For instance, if a customer reneges on their initial request to deposit or withdraw more than $10,000 in cash, and instead requests the same transaction for $9,999, the bank employee should deny such a request and continue the transaction as originally requested by filing a CTR. This sort of attempt is known as structuring, and is punishable by federal law against both the customer and the bank employee. Informed individuals who structure their transactions at an amount near, but not over $10,000 could have their accounts closely monitored by tellers and bank staff to see if a pattern emerges that could warrant the filing of a SAR.

If you want to read it direct from the FDIC regs then google 31 C.F.R 1010.330. If someone at your bank asked you what you wanted your $6,000 for then I suspect it was out of curiosity but it certainly isn't required on their part to gather that information for that amount, unless they have some internal reasons for filing a SAR (Suspicious Activity Report)

Heads up on the global financial crisis. The reason so many countries are struggling right now is because the financial assets of the money/power elite have been squashed. Confiscated. "They" are now bankrupt and scrambling to find anything, anything for themselves. Hence all the scurrying.... and this also probably has a lot to do with delay after delay on this RV.

The good news is that when this global financial situation gets resolved it will be really good news for us and not so good news for the Jail Bound power elite.

I would also say that it is the astute person who has both ears and both eyes wide open during our very interesting current events.

If you're going to prepare for anything prepare to take back control of our government. Vote OUT all politicians who are career politicians, accepting lobbyists contributions, have a million dollar or more portfolio, or have voted on the NDAA and other such insane legislation.
