1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the
wealth out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must
work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the
government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to
work because the other half is going to take care of them, and
when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work,
because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is
the beginning of the end of any nation.

Isn't it sad that so many are deprived of working toward a goal and knowing the joy of accomplishment? Those on the public dole are deprived of way more than money!

How in the Sam heck (my dad's expression) did the Republican Party ever manage to get poor and middle class Americans to vote against their own self interests? It's fascinating. I've been in the financial services industry for 22 years and let me tell you this. Once Bush lowered the tax rates so significantly, the wealthy stopped building businesses like they used to do. Why should they? All that pain with city councils, state governments, EMPLOYEES etc. just wasn't worth it. Why not? Because at the same time, the internet allowed them to reap huge profits without getting out of their kitchens. Why would anyone go through all that pain when they could simply pay long term gains of 15% with very little effort.
Of course some people did open fabulous businesses but that was most often to acquire money they didn't have yet.
Dinarians aside (we hope to be wealthy too) why would any ordinary American support the Republican agenda? Oh, oh wait. I know.
FOX NEWS AND THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT. Yep, Fox has them eating out of the palms of their hands. That group never, EVER, changes the channel to see how the other side sees the same topic.
Finally, (getting this off my back) Christians are supposed to be really charitable. Right? Maybe so, but what again happened with the wealthy after the Bush cuts? They stopped doing charitable estate planning. We used to get millions for charitable causes but at a 15% capital gain, they just paid the tax and went on with life.
Now the Republicans are trying to eliminate the estate tax itself, which will cause even less charitable giving.
So do you think you will be different after the RV? I doubt it. Some obviously will, but from experience I know that several Dinarians I am acquainted with, are trying to avoid paying any taxes by going offshore etc. Plus, after listening to hundreds of hours of conference calls, I rarely hear any discussion about using charitable planning.
In summary, I guess you are all right on these various boards---the poor are a useless bunch who simply want to lie around all day and rake in their government money. The louts want free health care too. Useless people.
If I was a speedy typist, I could go on and on but suffice it to say, I have no use for stingy ideologues.

Back on Uncle Sam's plantation

This is one of the very best comments on the present situation that I have seen!
If a white person had written it, it would be considered extremely racial,
but since Star Parker is black and admittedly a product of the "welfare state," it is acknowledged as a person speaking from experience.

Star Parker - Syndicated Columnist

Six years ago I wrote a book called Uncle Sam's Plantation ..
I wrote the book to tell my own story of what I saw living inside the welfare state and my own transformation out of it.
I said in that book that indeed there are two Americas -- a poor America on socialism and a wealthy America on capitalism.

I talked about government programs like Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training (JOBS), Emergency Assistance to Needy Families with Children (EANF), Section 8 Housing, and Food Stamps. A vast sea of perhaps well-intentioned government programs, all initially set into motion in the 1960s by Democrats, that were going to lift the nation's poor out of poverty.

A benevolent Uncle Sam welcomed mostly poor black Americans onto the government plantation. Those who accepted the invitation switched mindsets from "How do I take care of myself?" to "What do I have to do to stay on the plantation?" Instead of solving economic problems, government welfare socialism created monstrous moral and spiritual problems -- the kind of problems that are inevitable when individuals turn responsibility for their lives over to others.

The legacy of American socialism is our blighted inner cities, dysfunctional inner city schools, and broken black families.

Through God's grace, I found my way out. It was then that I understood what freedom meant and how great this country is.
I had the privilege of working on welfare reform in 1996 which was passed by a Republican controlled Congress.
I thought we were on the road to moving socialism out of our poor black communities and replacing it with wealth-producing American capitalism.

But, incredibly, we are now going in the opposite direction. Instead of poor America on socialism becoming more like rich American on capitalism, rich America on capitalism is becoming like poor America on socialism.

Uncle Sam has welcomed our banks onto the plantation and they have said, "Thank you, Suh." Now, instead of thinking about what creative things need to be done to serve customers, they are thinking about what they have to tell Massah in order to get their cash.

There is some kind of irony that this is all happening under our first black president on the 200th anniversary of the birthday of Abraham Lincoln.

Worse, socialism seems to be the element of our new young president.
And maybe even more troubling, our corporate executives seem happy to move onto the plantation.

In an op-Ed on the opinion page of the Washington Post, Mr. Obama is clear that the goal of his trillion dollar spending plan is much more than short term economic stimulus. "This plan is more than a prescription for short-term spending -- it's a strategy for America's long-term growth and opportunity in areas such as renewable energy, healthcare, and education."

Perhaps more incredibly, Obama seems to think that government taking over an economy is a new idea.
Or that massive growth in government can take place "with unprecedented transparency and accountability."
Yes, sir, we heard it from Jimmy Carter when he created the Department of Energy, the Synfuels Corporation, and the Department of Education.

Or how about the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 -- The War on Poverty -- which President Johnson said "...does not merely expand old programs or improve what is already being done. It charts a new course. It strikes at the causes, not just the consequences of poverty."

Trillions of dollars later, black poverty is the same.
But black families are not, with triple the incidence of single-parent homes and out-of-wedlock births.
It's not complicated. Americans can accept Barack Obama's invitation to move onto the plantation. Or they can choose personal responsibility and freedom. Does anyone really need to think about what the choice should be?

"The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money."

Well I see a member of "The Blame Bush" crowd and attack Fox News has crawled out from under their rock. (mick24). Anyone that watches Fox News - and Fox Business News, knows full well that Fox has more dissenting voices on their shows then any other network. Lately they have become the Bob Beck Channels - Bob Beck is one of the most cynical, condescending, mean spirited and downright hateful voices on the air waves representing the leftist, socialist, marxist point of view and he seems to have more face time on Fox then any conservative voice. If you watch FOX at all then you there is not one show that does not have as many left liberal voices as they have right, conservative voices.

So, don't attack FOX and don't blame Bush because your claims are not based in reality and are patently false.

When Bush LEFT office unemployment was about 6.8% and the average price of gas was $1.85 gal. The National Deb't was about 1/3 of what it is now. How's this hopey changey thing working out for you???? 9.3% unemployment, housing market in the toilet with no end in sight, average gal gas prices at almost $4.00 - inflation - food prices rising daily - yeah, that's some real progress.

Obama and his globe trotting wife are the worst President and First Lady we have ever had in the White House. Even worse then Carter and I never thought I would live to see that. At least if John McCain had been elected we would not be in a third war and our first lady would have a little class. It is embarrassing having those Chicago thugs in the White House and as our representatives to the world. Obama has done so well that we now have the IMF and China giving us financial advice. That's really a "step-up" huh!!!

The Debt Ceiling Crisis is a fantasy in O's mind. Just the other day I heard where they just might find a few billion bucks more to extend the "deadline" yet one more time. Obama just wants a blank check and he is having a "hissy" fit cause the GOP in the House of Representatives won't let him have his way. He has yet to realize what the 2010 election was all about - you know the one where he lost more House Representatives then any other President in the history of the world. He's got a lot of "firsts' under his belt. Anyway, now he is just doing what he always does, blaming everyone but himself. What a loser.

I pray everyday that God deliver us from this monster that is heck bent on destroying America.

Post by surveylifer Tue Jul 26, 2011 12:20 pm

Thanks starship1, I concur, I am tired of every elitist left winger telling us that fox news and George Bush are the problem. Ignorance is definitely blind. We have a president who has no clue how to do his job. His claim to fame is organizing community events. I would say he has done a fantastic job in organizing the downfall of this country. Mick24, you come on here and attack a former president and a news channel. This country (IMHO) is no longer god fearing and that is part of the problem. I guess the left is smarter then the creator as well. I am not a bible thumper, but I do believe and know who I ultimately answer to. I have got to the point where I do not want to respond to comments anymore because it may lend this group to think we are listening to what they are saying. Once again well said starship1.
