This thought jumped out at me, from another thread. It struck me as odd.

"When they shall say, “There is peace and quiet”, then suddenly destruction shall arise upon them as labor pains upon a pregnant woman, and they shall not escape."

What does this mean? How should it be received? Is 'tribulation' something we can ever escape? "Lord teach me patience," and he said, "tribulation worketh patience."

Should those of faith fear peace for fear of non-peace? Should we settle for faux-peace as an alternative? What are we doing here anyway, and why should we fear anything?

Rapture is joy and tribulation turmoil. Somewhere 'joy' turned into a doctrine - set in its interpretation. I don't even think 'rapture' is used in the Bible.

Should we be so afraid of peace for fear of tribulation that peace evades like a carrot leading a mule? Is it only through the birth pangs of death that we shall see peace, or can we find it in our lives?

It has been said, an idea whose time has come cannot be stopped. We are also told that there is a season and time aloted for every purpose under heaven.

Could such language be a sort of Gordian knot? Could the meaning be better applied to situations encountered in daily life? When we reach some plateau or period of balance, something always seems to come along to bother us again.

Through adversity we have the opportunity for resolution and growth. Perhaps some of these principles might well be incorporated into daily life. If we abide in the almighty, what can shake us and make us fall?
