What determins how many star one gets under thier name?

I see people on here with different titles and number os stars they have. Whats the rule of thumb here ? Who decides ? :?:

tekeylaman, its automated. You hit a certain number of posts, and it adds stars and changes the titles. . . the more you post the more stars. . .
