Istanbul ( NINA ) - Meetings of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Conference began today in Istanbul, Turkey, with the participation of 38 countries.

In his opening speech, the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Shantop, called for the formation of a committee to follow up on the situation of Muslim minorities in countries that are not members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Shantoub said: The Muslim minority communities in these countries are subjected to violence, injustice and violation of human rights, and it is necessary to extend a helping hand to Muslims in them.

He added that this suffering requires us to form a special committee whose mission is to monitor human rights in those countries that host Muslim minorities, closely follow their problems and defend their interests.

The conference participants will discuss several topics related to the Palestinian cause, Al-Quds Al-Sharif and immigration, in addition to supporting the Afghan people./End
