Baghdad / NINA / - The head of the Alliance of National State Forces, Ammar al-Hakim, called for pressure on neighboring countries to guarantee Iraq's water rights.
And he said in a tweet that: Iraq has been affected by the climatic changes witnessed by the world and the region, and the absence of fair water policies exposes its agricultural, environmental and social reality to an imminent danger.
Al-Hakim added that: the progress of neighboring countries in establishing dam projects and reducing Iraq’s water share increases the risk of expanding desertification, noting that: This calls for engaging in intensive talks and negotiations by the Iraqi side and working to activate the concluded agreements and benefit from the advantages of the law of riparian countries approved by the organization internationalism.
He called for: investing the economic and commercial interests of those countries with Iraq as a pressure factor to protect its water rights and not to endanger the country's present and future... urging the concerned ministries to develop scientific and practical solutions that reduce the impact of this crisis and benefit from international experiences in this field./ End 3
