Baghdad / NINA / - Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, received in his office yesterday evening, the Russian President's envoy to the Middle East, Mikhail Bagdanov.

A statement from al-Maliki's office said, "Baghdanov conveyed the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin to al-Maliki, and offered congratulations on the occasion of the elections and what the State of Law coalition had achieved in them. They also discussed developments in political and security situations on the regional and international arenas.

Maliki stressed the need to strengthen bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. In various fields, inviting Russian companies to work in Iraq and overcoming obstacles to their participation in strengthening the Iraqi economy and supporting development opportunities, noting that Iraq seeks to establish balanced relations with all countries of the world.

For his part, Bagdanov affirmed his country's support for the security, stability and sovereignty of Iraq, expressing his hope that the political forces would agree to form a coalition government that would be able to carry out its duties towards the Iraqi people, praising the positive role that Iraq plays on the regional arena.
