Economist to Nina: The local market needs urgent government decisions to break prices
Saturday 06 November 2021 09:30
Baghdad / NINA / - An expert in economic affairs, Safwan Qusai, confirmed: "Breaking the high prices of most commodities and merchandise in the local market needs urgent government decisions."
Qusay said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA /: “The market is witnessing a rise in the prices of most consumer goods for several reasons, including external reasons related to a clear rise in the prices of most commodities internationally, at a rate of close to 20% due to the impact of the global production map on the Corona pandemic. Locally due to political instability, the devaluation of the Iraqi dinar, and the inability of local production to compensate for the shortage in imports and the high transportation costs of imported goods.
The expert pointed out that “breaking prices needs urgent government decisions related to tracking prices and benefiting from the financial abundance as a result of the increase in oil prices in expanding the vocabulary of the food basket and including additional numbers in it, in addition to supporting regular bakeries and private generators with free fuel and activating the role of the Economic Crimes Department in monitoring The import process, not blackmailing importers by corruption mafias, and supporting the capabilities of the local agricultural and industrial producer with direct or indirect exemptions and granting financial facilities to expand the production base, will contribute to breaking prices.” / End 8
