Istanbul ( NINA ) - The Turkish lira continued its sharp decline in the local markets against foreign currencies, despite all the measures taken to curb this unexpected decline.

The reporter of NINA News Agency stated that the Turkish lira depreciated in the trading markets today, Monday, to reach 974 liras for every 100 US dollars.

The reporter pointed out that the prices of goods, fruits and vegetables and transportation wages are on the rise almost daily as a result of abnormal surges in the depreciation of the Turkish lira, as well as the case with real estate and its rent.

Last Thursday, the Turkish Central Bank announced a cut in the interest rate from 18 percent to 16 percent, in a move to modify the course of the lira, preceded by radical changes in the management hierarchy of the Turkish Central Bank./End
