The Minister of Foreign Affairs discusses with McCork the situation in the region and the developments taking place in it

Baghdad / NINA / - Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein received, at his residence in New York, National Security Council member and White House Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa Brett McCork, and US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Yale Lambert, on the sidelines of the 76th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations United.

A Foreign Ministry statement stated that: "During the meeting, bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States of America were discussed, especially the military and security relations and the mechanism for implementing the steps that were adopted during the strategic dialogue session, in addition to the situation in the region, the developments taking place in it, and Iraq's relations with its countries."

The minister stressed: "Iraq seeks, through its pivotal role, to be a factor and a source of stability, calm and mediation to resolve differences between some countries in the region."

McCork and Lambert expressed their appreciation for the efforts made by Iraq in promoting peace and stability in the region, and they valued the efforts and initiatives undertaken by Iraq through the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership.

The meeting also touched on US-Iranian relations, and their effects on relations between the countries of the region under the new Iranian and US administrations./End of 9
