Economy News - Baghdad

A member of the House of Representatives from Nineveh Governorate, Safaa Muslim, said that the budgets allocated to the governorates are not being spent in the right direction.

Muslim said, "Nineveh Governorate was subjected to a complete catastrophe, during the period of ISIS occupation and military operations," noting that "the right side of the city of Mosul was finished, but things began to return little by little to what they were, while the situation on the left side is relatively better," according to for Rudaw.

He explained that "the first budget approved for the governorate after two years, and it is obvious that the reconstruction will be slow, but the next will be better," expressing his hope to return the city to its previous era.

Muslim, pointed out that "136 billion dinars have been received from the budget allocated to the governorate, which amounts to 400 billion, although it is not sufficient, but we expect to complete projects, especially in Ayman Mosul."

As for the distribution of budgets to the provinces, he saw that “all Iraqi provinces need allocations that fit their requirements, but the difficult economic conditions that the country faced and the financial crisis due to the spread of the Corona virus and the drop in oil prices greatly affected these allocations, which are not disposed of properly, as it is. The situation in the central and southern cities, which also needs reconstruction and maintenance in many services."
