The Governor of Baghdad, Muhammad Jaber Al-Atta, confirmed that the "suspended train" project or "Baghdad Metro" is in the stage of preparing special contracts to start negotiations with the French Alstom and Korean Hyundai companies, after settling on one of the financing options from international loans, and the most likely option is the Sino-Iraqi joint loan, indicating It is one of the vital service projects for the capital.    

Al-Atta told the official Al-Sabah newspaper, which was reviewed by Al-Iqtisad News, that “the suspended train project will extend on tracks covering the whole capital, and it will be implemented in several stages that include the first stage more than 21 km and by 14 stations from the international station towards the sides of Karkh and Rusafa at a cost of 3 Trillions of dinars. ”

The governor added that "the French Alstom and Korean Hyundai companies have submitted their offers for implementation, and the project is currently in the stage of preparing special contracts to start negotiations, after settling on one of the financing options between international loans as Iraq pays 15% of the total estimated cost, and the most likely option is the Chinese-Iraqi loan The joint: to implement productive service investment projects, as well as that the governorate has moved towards Chinese loans within the Chinese investment plan in Iraq.

He pointed out that "the Ministry of Planning announced earlier that the project should be included in the budget for the year 2020, which helped the local government to move forward to complete all engineering and technical requirements related to signing implementation and direct contracts during the coming days." He called "the Ministry of Finance and sponsors and the Ministry of Transport and departments Maintaining cooperation and coordination to give the project the highest priority among its interests, and to accomplish it in the timing, constants, and specific criteria.  

And the Governor of Baghdad stated that "the French and Korean companies submitted to the departments of the engineering and technical departments specialized detailed plans and designs and initial maps of the project with paths, stations and depth of the land," noting that it was directed to take into account the maintenance of urban facades in the construction of stations, crossroads and railways carrying the train to show the historical imprint of the capital. 

Al-Atta stressed that "the suspended train is one of the vital and economic projects of the capital, because it will change the means of transportation in providing comfortable and appropriate and not waste time in traffic jams and a qualitative shift in the field of transportation for expats and the people of the capital."

In the meantime, the Governor of Baghdad announced the launch of work on five integrated service projects in the Husseiniya area north of the capital, including five neighborhoods, indicating that the projects include the work of tiling and the construction of a water network and other heavy sewage, in addition to the rehabilitation of electricity distribution networks. 

Al-Atta pointed out that "the companies contracting with Baghdad Governorate started four service projects in the Yusifiyah and Latifiyah regions of the southern capital belt, which include the completion of integrated business projects," adding that "the central government monitored the financial amounts of those projects within the budget of last year." Noting that the province will launch service tenders for additional projects in the aforementioned regions after the approval of the budget for the current year.
