The Ministry of Agriculture announced, on Tuesday, that the agricultural products banned for import into the agricultural calendar have risen to twenty-five items, after achieving self-sufficiency.

The ministry's media spokesman, Hamid Al-Nayef, said in an interview with Al-Sabah that the ministry has, for the first time, been able to export a number of agricultural products abroad, including eggplant, pomegranate, dates, cattle hides, sheep, ornamental birds and pigeons of all kinds.

He pointed to the increase in the number of agricultural products banned from import due to the abundance of the local product, including 25 crops, including strategic crops.

He added that the ministry at the same time appealed to the concerned authorities in the government to increase its budget allocations to meet the requirements of upgrading the agricultural sector.
