The Border Ports Authority revealed, on Thursday, the completion of work related to the reopening of the Al-Waleed outlet, which links the country with Syria, while confirming the opening of the Rabia outlet in front of the emergency and humanitarian cases only.

"The authority is in the process of finalizing the work related to the reopening of the Al-Waleed outlet located in the west of the country, which links Iraq to the Syrian Arab Republic," he said in a statement reported by the official Al-Sabah newspaper and seen by Al-Iqtisad News. "There are a number of obstacles that have delayed its reopening, including the exposure of areas near the crossing on the Syrian side to military operations and strikes from time to time."

Al-Qaisi added, "The reopening of the crossing will contribute to increasing economic activity and commercial exchanges between the two brotherly countries, which have declined significantly due to the incursion of terrorist elements in these areas and their control over them for several years." He stressed, "The two countries' keenness to go beyond that stage and support the commercial movement in addition to movement Transportation in general, especially traffic in which travelers are traveling between the two countries.
