The Sadr Gas Power Station announced, Wednesday, the loss of 450 MW from the national grid due to the interruption of Iranian gas supplies.

The head of the operating department of the station, Kazem Jawad, said in a statement to the official Iraqi News Agency (INA), which was read to him by "Al-Iqtisad News", that the Sadr gas power station contains four obstetric units that are fed with two types of fuel, they are (liquid and gas) ", indicating that" obstetric units The four, producing about 600 megawatts connected to the national electricity grid. ”
He added that“ the station is fueled by two lines, the first of the Iranian pipeline and the other the national pipeline, ”stressing that“ the station currently produces about 140 megawatts and lost about 450 megawatts, due to a stop Iranian gas supply.

He pointed out that "the quantities of fuel that come from the national pipeline are not sufficient to generate all units in the station, which negatively affected the rate of production and processing hours," noting that "operating the units with gas is better than the liquid in terms of unit life, hours of operation and efficiency."

The Ministry of Electricity revealed earlier that linking power lines with the Gulf states will supply the southern governorates with 500 megawatts.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Electricity, Ahmed Moussa Al-Abadi, said that "Iraq has signed an agreement with the Gulf Linking Authority that includes being a member with the six Gulf countries," noting that "work is being done now in the first phase, which ends in the tenth month of this year and enters service, It will supply the southern governorates with 500 megawatts of electricity. "

Al-Abadi added that "the ministry has completed the synchronization linkage with Iran regarding the transmission of energy lines, and work has begun to link the Iranian grid lines with Iraq in a synchronous way, allowing for the possibility of exporting Iraqi energy in the period of moderation," noting that "the discussion on the subject of supplies continues with Iran To the return of the levels of gas pump accompanying the operation of the stations in a manner that was responsible for their operation and raising their production rates. "

He continued, "The Ministry, in cooperation with the Ministry of Oil, is working on a fuel plan that requires the rehabilitation and construction of associated gas fields in a way that Iraq suffices with national gas instead of the importer from neighboring countries and rehabilitating those fields and benefiting from them by operating the stations with a national product," noting that "the need to import energy from countries The neighborhood will be exhausted after the completion of the fuel plan. ”It is indicated that the Ministry of Electricity stated through a statement earlier that“ Minister of Electricity Loay Al-Khatib entered into a contract with the Gulf Linkage Corporation, affiliated to the Gulf Cooperation Council, to establish two lines for the transmission of electrical energy of high pressure (400) k F. "

The statement added that "the Gulf Linkage Authority will bear the cost of constructing the two lines, which will be a length of (300 km), divided between two distances, inside Iraq (80 km), and within the State of Kuwait (220 km), will be linked to the Iraqi national system, (Al Faw Transforming Station (400 kV), on the one hand, and it is an extension of the baseline for the Gulf connection from the other side, and with the same technical specifications, specified (1800 MVA), and it is hoped to import (500) MW, as a first stage, to be prepared after the completion of the two lines before the summer of 2020 , And at competitive Gulf market prices that will be differentiated after completion. "

He explained that "the agreement in its second phase included the establishment of an electrical energy exchange system (continuous current) (HVDC), between Iraq and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and between Europe.
