Babel Agriculture Directorate achieved self-sufficiency in producing strategic crops and livestock as part of its plans to support the local product.

"After increasing agricultural areas, the Directorate managed to achieve self-sufficiency in producing strategic crops such as wheat, barley, and corn, as well as achieving livestock, such as chicken and red meat, as well as fish wealth," said Babylon Director of Agriculture, Salah Mahdi Al-Jashmi.

He added that "the directorate has implemented many projects in the agricultural and animal sectors to increase production quantities and the highest levels of production have been achieved, which made the province reach this important stage."

Al-Jashmi said that "the Directorate is currently implementing a number of projects to achieve self-sufficiency of laying hens, which covers 75 percent of the governorate currently, and that the completion of these projects will contribute to covering the province by 100 percent," noting that "the Ministry of Agriculture issued a memorandum banning the import of 22 Substance and self-sufficiency from the local product which has become a surplus, and thus this will support the farmer and farmer who is the basis of the local product. "

Al-Jashmi said that "the directorate has implemented the agricultural plan for the current season at 100 percent, and its branches are distributing fertilizers to produce various crops," noting that "
He stressed that "the cultivation of fodder crops and vegetables are also running smoothly, and fertilizers were distributed among farmers to ensure that they are not exposed to diseases that lead to their harm."
