Baghdad / Nina / The American Aviation Administration announced, on Wednesday, a ban on airlines from flying over Iraq and Iran, after the Iranian attack on two American bases in Anbar and Erbil.

The US Federal Aviation Administration said it would prohibit American civil aviation companies from flying in the airspace of Iraq, Iran, the Gulf of Oman and the waters separating Saudi Arabia and Iran after the latter launched a missile attack on US-led forces in Iraq.

It is noteworthy that the Pentagon announced on the dawn of Wednesday, that Iran had launched a missile attack on American and coalition forces in Iraq, revealing that Tehran had fired more than 10 missiles at American forces in Anbar and Erbil, indicating that it was in the process of assessing the damage and studying ways to respond.

"We are working on a preliminary damage assessment," Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said in a statement, adding that the two targeted bases were Ein al-Assad Air Base and another base in Erbil.

He added that the Ayn al-Assad base in Iraq was subjected to a missile attack, and it was not known if there were any casualties.

The official added that there is no information so far about any damages or injuries as a result of the attack, but he stressed that the wing that includes the American military presence at Ein al-Assad base was affected by the missile strikes.

He also announced that the targeted installations include Erbil, northern Iraq, and the Ain al-Assad air base.

He added that ballistic missiles were fired from inside Iran at American military installations in Iraq, while a Kurdish source confirmed that the source of the missiles was Kermanshah in Iran.

The US military official added that his country will take all measures to protect its forces, partners and allies in the region.

On the other hand, information indicated that beeps were heard in the midst of an American helicopter flight in the sky of Ain Al-Asad base in western Iraq. / End 3
